New to PowerPoint? This PowerPoint Basics tutorial will teach you the skills you need to know to create a professional, dynamic presentation.

I’ve been able to use PowerPoint for informative presentations, e-courses, to create printables (seriously, did you know you can create printables in PowerPoint?), and even e-books! Needless to say, I love PowerPoint for its versatility and ease. Once you have the basics down, the sky’s the limit!

Let me teach you how to to get started here and then move you forward into more of the ins and out of PowerPoint and what all it can do for you. Don’t have PowerPoint? Many of these lessons easily convert to the FREE Google Slides, so watch what you can do here with PowerPoint and then head on over to Slides to put these lessons into practice if you don’t have Microsoft Office. No problem!

If you’ve only just begun with Microsoft PowerPoint or if you need a refresher, this tutorial will guide you through a quick and productive start.

You’ll learn:

  • how to customize the background with solid colors, images, textures, and gradients
  • how to insert new slides
  • how to insert images, text, and WordArt
  • how to create animations
  • how to create transitions
  • how to save as a presentation and as a PDF document

PowerPoint Basics Tutorial Video:

Once you’ve gotten down the basics, be sure to come back for my upcoming PowerPoint tutorials on more specific ways you can put this program to use for you.
