No doubt about it, Pinterest has helped me grow my blog following faster than any other. Through the years, my SEO has finally kicked in and my search engine traffic has increased, but Pinterest remains my largest traffic referrer (is referrer a word?) for first my faith blog and second, although it’s newer and not as large yet, Tech Gramma.
BoardBooster allows me to schedule pins to specific boards which frees up all the time I used to take pinning throughout the day. It’s true that Pinterest traffic has gone down recently as they continue to make changes and updates. Some people believe this is because of scheduling programs like BoardBooster and Tailwind, but I’m not sure this is the case. Of course, I’m not a Pinterest expert, so I can just tell you based on my personal experience.
I’ve used BoardBooster on my faith blog for several years and even though it’s not technically ‘approved’ as a Pinterest scheduler, it made a huge difference in my blog traffic and in growing my Pinterest followers. About February 2017, I began seeing a large decline in Pinterest traffic. I didn’t panic at first (okay, maybe a little), but then I learned Pinterest was making all kinds of changes, and I remembered that there have always been ups and downs.
Tailwind was heavily promoted, and I signed up for it, too. My plan was (and still is, as I still use both) to use BoardBooster to schedule my own pins and to loop my boards (tutorial on Looping coming soon) and to use Tailwind to curate and schedule other people’s content. Tailwind is an ‘approved’ Pinterest scheduler, so I expected my traffic to soar. However, my pageviews from Pinterest dropped even more. Had I not already been seeing drops, I might have blamed this on Tailwind.
All that being said, I don’t believe it’s either program causing the change in traffic. I think it’s a combination of things including the time of year and also the changes in Pinterest algorithms. I will continue to use both BoardBooster and Tailwind along with some manual pinning each day to grow my Pinterest following and to drive traffic to my blogs. The time saved is priceless. I’d much rather be spending my time creating new content to help you.
And, BoardBooster offers a free 100 pin trial and after that, it’s only $5 per month. It’s a great deal!
