Create a Free Ebook Cover in Canva
Designing my first ebook cover in Canva allowed me to create a high quality, professional (at least to my eyes… a graphic designer might beg to differ) cover. While we like to use the old phrase, “you can’t judge a book by its cover,” the truth is, readers do judge a book by its cover.

A poorly designed cover hurts interest which hurts sales. Unfortunately, hiring a graphic designer to create a cover often stretches the budget to a breaking point. I know when I was first publishing books, I did not have the budget to hire a professional.
The first time I tried to create my own, it was…um… really bad. And that’s putting it nicely. And then, I found Canva! With their templates, layouts, fonts, and options of graphics, I quickly learned to create an ebook cover. Because I used my own images, it didn’t cost a dime. Even if you choose to use the images in Canva, many of them are free or are only a dollar. Be sure to check all the licensing rules, though, to make sure it’s okay for you to use them on a book you plan to sell. It’s always important to check all the legalities.
If you’ve written a book and don’t have the budget to hire someone to design your book (although consider doing that once you get the budget), try Canva to create your ebook cover. I think you’ll be super impressed.
